Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day!?!?!?
Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day! What are the consumers appreciative of from this business as they showed their support in impressive numbers today? Is it the freedom of doing business with religious conviction, supporting the company’s 1st amendment rights; or even more disturbing, supporting the company’s views of discrimination against our fellow citizens?
Mr. Cathey’s comments about same-sex marriage are just the latest in his activist agenda. He stated that he will leave these issues up to the politicians but that ship sailed decades ago with his founding and company’s affiliation of the WinShape Foundation, and their efforts of contributing millions of dollars to his anti-gay agenda.
So today, was a very profitable day for selling chicken sandwiches, supported by those who were outraged in the name of righteousness. I am sure that someone a supporter knows whether a family member, friend, coworker or fellow church member did not feel the same zeal.
As for me, I support Chick Fil-A’s right to do business, no matter the views, and I will not be participating in any planned boycotts. I just don’t spend my dollars at this restaurant. I was taught and raised with a set of values that a good sugary chicken sandwich is not worthy of compromise. The question remains, what was the support and appreciation for today that deserved such fervor from the consumers, politicians and local media?
